Today, I think that no one denies some obvious concerns, whether environmental, ecological, energy, security… or even technological challenges that do nothing but present us with new challenges and uncertainty on a planet adrift. In many cases, we wonder in surprise how we have reached the situation of perplexity in which we find ourselves, where the only thing that matters in many cases is to grow in any way, whether in the economy or in other areas, always more and more. , but not so much, we seek innovation, collaboration and gratitude for the only and most valuable thing before us: the habitat of our planet Earth.
Knowledge, curiosity and uncertainty are present in our consciences, without us knowing for sure what will happen to us in the relatively near future and what the consequences of these challenges will be, as well as the role that citizenship and governance will play in this process. A complicated and uncertain future, to which we must add, on the other hand, two blocks of countries with different economic, commercial, military and geopolitical rules that walk without understanding in a context of large-scale war threat.
Where no one will be enough to do everything necessary in terms of development, the response in many cases is hatred and confrontation in the face of a desirable better scenario of understanding to fight the common enemy such as the potential dangers derived from environmental, climatic and health challenges in the face of possible new viruses, and even the dangers derived from the cosmos and space debris, which will take us away from the current scenario of war threat like the one we have today.
Given this situation that surrounds us, there is a lack of adequate governance on the part of many countries in the world that are capable of finding some of the keys that we should acquire to provide ourselves with solutions for a sustainable, fair and peaceful global order, where technology, science and collective intelligence, joining forces, are part of this process of change to have a brighter and more sustainable future. In this way, the development objectives will be achievable; in this way, success will be for all of us and, in this way, each one will occupy their corresponding place.
We need to provide ourselves with a circular mindset in which the challenges of modern urban development are based on new behaviors, aptitudes, ideas, new sustainable products and services, together with the deployment of emerging technologies, in a renewed approach to development models. Economic, social innovation and adequate governance are part of this inevitable process of change.
Meanwhile, politics, technology, science and progress are moving along disparate paths with different intensities, where it is easy to see how technology is far ahead of politics. Thus, it can be seen how AI operates on an unprecedented scale and evolves rapidly with important capabilities to find solutions to multiple real problems. In the same way, the development of open AI models to be used and improved by anyone can allow for the obtaining of both social and economic benefits, as well as encouraging the technological self-sufficiency of countries.
An example of going beyond bureaucracy towards new forms of manifestation of innovation in terms of Governance can be found in the activities carried out by the “Belfer Center of the Harvard Kennedy School” as a reference center that combines the scientific and technological knowledge of scientists and technologists with political knowledge in order to provide answers to new geopolitical scenarios and challenges derived from emerging technologies through adequate Global Governance.
